Hello, my fans! Today, we will talk about the Great Collapse of Sarasaland and how Pauline conquered the kingdom. She also revamped the system in the Sarasaland government and renamed the place.
Part 1: No Fear
To understand how Sarasaland collapsed, you first need to study the history of the kingdom. In 1966, Sarasa Markson conquered half of the Mushroom Kingdom. She then decided to rename that half to Sarasaland, after herself. When Princess Stella Toadstool got the news, she was really angry.
In 1984, Peach, Stella’s daughter, was named princess of the Mushroom Kingdom, while Daisy, Sarasa’s daughter, became princess of Sarasaland. The two kingdoms continued to be rivals.
With the help of King Cranky Kong’s Jungle Kingdom and enemy-turned-ally Koopa Kingdom, the Mushroom Kingdom was expected to win the war. But Princess Daisy and the Sarasalanders were unstoppable against the three kingdoms. There was no fear in Sarasaland at all.
Part 2: The Brothers Join the War
Princess Peach instructed Luigi and I to join the war. We decided to sneak into the sewers of Sarasaland and clog the pipes. Princess Daisy tried to fix the sewers before it was too late. But it was too late. After getting a power star from Donkey Kong, we managed to conquer the land.
The Mushroom Kingdom celebrated on the streets and played trumpets. I actually have a video of that. As for Princess Daisy and Sarasaland, it was really painful. On March 6, 1996, two days after they were conquered, Princess Sarasa Markson, Daisy’s mom, said, “I felt like my daughter could have won had she asked for that star from Donkey before Mario and Luigi. But he probably would’ve said no, anyway.”
Part 3: Pauline and DK Get the Land
The other half of the kingdom was our territory again. But it wasn’t for long. On July 4, 1996, a few months after the war ended, Luigi and I gave control over what used to be Sarasaland to Donkey Kong and his friend, Pauline.
They renamed Sarasaland to New Donk City on August 5, 1996. “I added the word ‘donk’ in honor of Donkey Kong,” Pauline told me. She also became the mayor of the city.
Part 4: Tradition
On July 4 every year, to celebrate New Donk City being given to Donkey and Mayor Pauline, the city holds a festival where she sings “Jump Up, Superstar!” to the crowd.
Part 5: Today
What happened to the people involved in the story? Princess Peach is still the princess of the Mushroom Kingdom. Princess Daisy never recovered from the loss. Today, she and Daisy Jr., her daughter, live in the Koopa Kingdom. Sarasa Markson is now living in Nooktopia, under Tom Nook and Isabelle C. Slider.
What about the places? The broken sewers of New Donk City/Sarasaland are now fixed. In fact, they have been fixed since 1996, when the kingdom became a city. I haven’t seen any remnants of the Mushroom Kingdom-Sarasaland war at all in New Donk City.
